Regulation of Online Payments in Rwanda

Rwanda’s government has launched initiatives to expand the use of mobile broadband nationally and has not regulated or restricted online or mobile payments. Rwandan businesses that accept online payments must comply with credit card companies’ standards and regulations, as well as with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

Who can open an account with DPO?

Any travel-related merchant/provider or e-commerce merchant (hotel, airline, travel agent, tour operator, tour guide, etc.) can open an account immediately and start accepting online and mobile payments.
